In the Zono ! A tan-striped White throated sparrow has caught my attention.  He is back in my yard for another winter.  Just when I am sidelined with Covid, not Corvid, and really needed something a little exotic, at least for California, to occupy my mind. Yard birds present opportunities often not available when racing around a Texas Reseca.  Now I can get close ups photos and ask questions of a really interesting bird species with a computer and a cup of tea right in front of me.  Stationary birding is birding and I love birding. Here is a photo of today's sparrow. And here is a photo of a different White-throated sparrow I took a few miles away at an area called Marta's wash.                                                                           January 1st Estero Llano, Cameron County We intentionally started the year on January 1st with their awesome 8:30 Estero Llano hike filled with Texas hospitality. Thanks Sue, Steve and Huck. Interesting  bird id puzzle  to start the year at Estero Grande.     Not a great a photo, but if you join the Nashville Warbler in looking closely at the bird in the bottom of the photo you seen a different warbler.  At first I thought it might be an Oven bird, but now I believe it is  an Orange crowned warbler bathing.  A look at internet photos shows other photos where a mute orange crown is shown during bath time.  Plus the Orange crowned was the warbler du jour.
